Fuel Gauge Reading

I removed my fuel tank, straps, etc. when I restored my trunk on my BJ8. When I put everything back and turned on the car, the fuel gauge shot to full and stays there, no matter how much fuel is in the tank. I thought it was a grounding issue, so I ran a wire from the sending unit to an alligator clip that I stuck on the body / base of fuel tank strap - same result.

Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

THANKS!

Are you sure the float didn't hang up on anything when you re-installed it? For the additional ground wire, connect it from one of the 6 screws around the perimeter of the sending unit. I put the other end with the rest of the ground wires screwed to the bumper outrigger.
