Fuel Filters

Not having the benefit of an owners manual, how many fuel filters should I have on the car?

I have one in the engine bay and I recently changed it. So today while changing the right rear tire I found another in line filter by the tire. It seems to be between the tank and an external lekky fuel pump that reside sin the trunk.

Must I keep this filter there? And most importatnly has this been the bane of my high speed (relatively) surge?

Also do the gauges read right to you?

The only issues I see with the gauges are the discolored speedo (condensation?) and the fact that it's 11:30 here and your clock shows 7:57. The tach/speedo relationship looks to be dead on. Why do you think there's something amiss?

Not necessarily amiss but just wanted to be sure that.

The filter does concern me though and I think I am pulling the rear one when I get home today.

Thanks.

I removed the filter and it saddened me to see the layer of crust at the bottom of it.

I'm afraid I am going to remove the tank this weekend - darn.

Oh well I was looking for a project and it seems I found it - lol.

How painful is removing the tank?

I removed the Weber yesterday and there was so much gunk in the bowls it wasn't funny. Going to clean that this evening - I do have a new filter in the engine.

Also, how many flexible brake hoses does this car supposed to have? When I look online to buy a braided hose they show only three (2 front, 1 rear) which seems odd.

The tank on my '73 B was a snap to pull. Disconnect the vent hose, sending unit wires, fuel line, and filler pipe; remove the mounting bolts/nuts, and it will drop right on your head! (Position a floor jack as needed... )

There are only three.

Solid rear axle only needs one flex hose.
