[Sorry, the last day or so has me on a serious curiosity roll here.
]
"Back in the day" - which for me was in about 1968 at the tender age of 16 - I used to work with my dad on his big Healey 100-4 that he bought new in 1956 (and that I eventually inherited). Along with some other cars, I was told that it's generally best to put a fuel filter between the tank and an electric fuel pump... and then maybe one near the carbs. I guess the logic is to spare the pump from dealing with any debris that gets out of the tank. Never done two though.
I've had Minis where there was a single filter near the carbs. That's the same situation I have on my Frogeye.
Question: is it best to put a filter before the pump? Are two filters worth it (front and back) or might there be some reduction in flow? And, finally, exactly, what sort of filter is best? Aren't the cheap plastic case ones fine (presuming they are periodically changed)?
Where is yours and what sort of one do you use in our Sprite (or whatever car you drive)?
