Hello Zer,
you are on the right track.
Often the handle has two sets of holes for the pin that holds the handle onto the spindle. If you look again but at 90 degrees to the first hole you have spotted, I bet you'll find another with a pin in it. Keep the bezel pushed back and with a thin pin punch or the like push the pin out.

Good luck,

Alec

I need to replace on the passenger door - I've been putting off for over a year now. Might give these tips a shot this weekend.

Can be hard to push, look and punch all at the same time. I have my wife stand outside the door and push the bezel in whilst I do the lookin' and punchin'. The door panel (TR4) sort of pops in as you (she) are pressing against a spring that is on the shaft of the handle.

Dead easy once you see what's going on.

There's a little trick if you have trouble getting the pin back in the hole (from Roger Williams' book I think) but I've never had to resort to that.

On the weekend I started re doing the floor of my spit. Wire brush where needed, used a de greaser on the surface and rinsed, then used a Plasti cote sealer on the area's with rust. Got up at 3:30 a.m. ( Can't sleep ) and put another coat on so I can do the primer tonight and the tremclad white on Tuesday night ( if all goes well). So after the second coat I started to take the door pannels off and it was very easy but do you think I could get the window handle off.......

I read the Bently book and it says to push the bezel ( what is that? ) and it should pop off.( NOT !!) I used a screwdriver to pry it so I could see and I see a small hole that looks like I should try to push something into it and tried that and it didn't work. Do I need to try harder or am I missing somthing? Thanks Zer ( Tomato Man )

Derek, the bezel is the little cone shaped trim piece between the window crank handle and the door trim pad. Push that hard against the pad, and stick a small punch or a piece of coat hanger wire into the little hole you see. There is a pin in there that should push out. Once the pin is removed, the handle should come right off.
