Front tube shock conversion?

Sorry for another question on the BT7. The car has been converted up front to tube shocks. First time I'd seen that on the front suspension. Not sure whether this was a custom job, or a kit. Thoughts and comments from the collective wisdom would be much appreciated!

Hi Bill,
It could be either, but likely a kit. There is another thread on tube shocks going on with pictures and a link to Cape Internationals kit. Denis Welsh makes a kit I believe. Also, Udo Putzke has a kit. His site can be found at the Austin Healey Association of California’s website , click on “Our Links” and scroll to the third from the bottom.

My BN1 had the front tube shock conversion when I got it, not having driven it without I cannot say what effect it had on ride and handling, but I certainly no maintenance or other issues with the conversion in the 8 years I drove the car, was a bolt on deal so reversible if you wanted to.

I would certainly not worry about buying a car with the conversion.
