I tried to take some pics of my motor before I took it apart, but didn't get one of the front timing cover showing where the screws (slot headed) vs. the bolts (hex head) go, anybody got a good pic, didn't find it in my book either.

Thanks, Greg

Greg,

How's this?

Greg, are some of your timing cover studs broken off or something?
Curious to know why there would be a question. Not being smart, really;
just wanting to help, if I can.

If I understand you well enough, I think those are threaded studs, aren't
they? They look to be fastened with nuts....so I think your answer would
be yes.

I think you're asking about the two bottom left of the timing pointer,
I call it, but that might not be the correct reference.

Yes, timing pointer, as far as the studs, I think my machine shop guy removed them when cleaning the block. The little locating dowels were in the right place though :smile:

Yep. From the pic, the slotted screw heads are, of course, screws; you know
where your dowels are; and by default, I think safe to say the rest with
the nuts are threaded studs.

My machine shop guy had a tendancy to pull everything off/out as well.
No prob for the pros, but has certainly been known to throw me for a bit
whilst looking at it.
