Front Steel Insert For Bugeye Top. Anyone Have One

Too bad you are not looking for the back piece, or are they they same? I have a spare back piece.
Let's search Spritenut's old posts - I am sure he told us several times the right dimensions for this piece and maybe where to get it.

Just answered my own question at AH Spares.
They list the part#

XHOD145 HOOD RAIL-front MK1-MK2 ÂŁ7.45

#14 in this image:

(oh - that didn't work - you will have to go to https://www.ahspares.co.uk and search to find it)

Per Frank:

A better idea is get a length of 1/8 x 1/2" (or is it 5/8 wide?) flat
mild steel from a hardware or home center store, cut it to size, file or
round over the corners so not to tear the top.
Paint it so it doesn't rust inside the top sleeve.

Or rather than steel, I used aluminum

My mild steel original gets a bit bendy, how does the aluminum one hold up?

Perfect, granted I don't use the hood very often. I like the aluminum, its nice and stiff and holds well

Apparently Frank answered this one several times - here's another:

"Hood bar dimensions- 9/16" W X 36 1/4" L X 1/16" Thick with rounded ends."
