I know we've discussed this at great length BUT - the 1500 front springs are only slightly less than 1/2 inch longer than the RWA springs - (Horler - Orginal Sprite & Midget - p. 133) However, he also says the front crossmember was revised as well (same page) - anyone know the total difference?

Yes, the front crossmember on the 1500 car, basicly incorporated the steering rack mount into the front crossmemeber, rather than the separate square tubing the steering racks mounts to on the earlier Spridgets, and that's about it, it doesn't effect how the coil springs mount at all, so the a earlier set of of springs should go right in. You can also lower Spridgets by using longer bolts and a spacers down at the spring bucket in the lower control arm.
 
but Hap, are we really only talking 1/2 an inch?
 
1/2 inch at the springs makes about one inch difference at the tire.
 
also just the 1500 has that nasty heavy bumper so I have to imagine the load rate componsates for this as well. I have heard that 1275 springs in a 1500 equates to 1 1/4" drop.
