TR4/4A Front Coil Spring Spacers

When I replaced my front coil springs ten years ago on my '66 4A, I used the 10 1/2 springs and no spacers. Just the big rubber bushings. Now I see that the manual says there's a "thin" spacer or packing piece for the 10 1/2 spring, but that it's unavailable. I'm assuming that spacer isn't necessary? I've never heard of anyone using them nor have I even seen them for sale on EBAY or anywhere else. My car handles great. Maybe the spring turret already has a built in spacer? Not needed?

I forget the spring length; but I bought the stock springs from TRF. Same size as what was there previously (not sure if original or correct). No spacers.
