Front brake calipers

Besides the direct fit Toyota option, does anyone know of any other direct or close fit with some modification options for calipers made by companies such as AP, Brembo or Wilwood?

I don't know the details, but I've heard that Wilwood has some lightweight calipers that are a close fit. Seems like maybe they needed the later caliper brackets though.

I recently removed the Rimmer Big Brake kit from my TR8 and replaced it with a Wilwood kit from the Wedge shop. I did it to allow me to not use spacers on the front, other than it was fine. But in doing so, I found the the new Wilwood caliper weighed 3.8 lbs and the Wilwood rotor was 10 lbs. The Rimmer caliper weighs 14.o lbs and the rotor also weighs 14.0 lbs. 28 lbs per side versus 13.8, so that's double the weight.

How'd you like bleeding the brakes with those 2 nipples per side

Don,

I sat in the car and pumped the brakes. Woody did the bleeding, but it was rather quick, considering the amount of bleeders and going over each side three times. But with the new uprated booster with the bigger bore master cylinder, there is no pedal drop and it stops on a dime. It did with the Rimmer kit as well, but no wheel spacers needed on these.

And it's four nipples per side. Two front and two rear on each side.

Not this year. The goal is to finish everything on the TR6 over the winter and do a few more things to the 8 in the summer.

Famous last words of another driving season, but this year there's two mouths to feed.....

Two nipples are always better than one!

Thanks for the help with this. I think that Wilwood will most likely be my best choice.
The billet narrow Dynalite should bolt directly to the stock lug mount, but I need to check athe rotor offset. The only drawback with these calipers I can see is that they don't have dust boots.

just say the words dust boot and I wanna cry. that was the biggest pain in the neck, time consuming part of the entire break system rebuild. I felt like a dentist.

I think the Rimmer uses either the Princesses or the Capri Rotors and calipers

I don't know what they use, but they work well and they are heavy. I hope a local buys them when I put them on ebay to save the shipping costs.
