Fresh out of Moloka'i,Hawaii

Aloha
I retired and moved from Los Angeles to Moloka'i, Hawaii last year. Last month, I found a rust free 1959 TR3A here on the island. The previous owner had it hiding under cover in his warehouse. It had been sitting for a few years and required new brake hoses and a bleed and new slave clutch cylinder to get it back on the road again. I'm still sorting it out and at the moment it's a good daily driver, perfect for the island.
In a previous life I was a Jaguar Certified Mechanic at a dealership for 12 years (1981-1993). I also worked on MG Triumph Rovers and Maserati at this dealership.
My first intro to British cars was a 1966 TR4A with the factory targa hardtop. From that point on I've had other TR 4's, TR3, Austin Sprite, 1968 Jag XKE S 1.5 coupe, 1984 XJ6, 1993 XJS coupe. Before I moved to Hawaii I had to sell off the Jags. But I did bring a 1956 Chevy 2 door Wagon and a 1958 Chevy Apache truck with me.
I didn't think I'd find another car to tinker with out here, but I did.
And I found another barn find that I hope to get ...1953 MGTD complete. This one will need more than brake hoses for sure, but it's all there.
Mahalo and chat soon.

Welcome aboard! Interesting collection you had there, I'd have loved any of the Jags! Your experience wrenching on the big cats will be invaluable to the forum, so I am really pleased that you chose to join us!

Hello vickxxx,

Molokai, huh? I understand there is something like only 60 miles of paved roads there! I guess you'll get a chance to know them well. I know of a Bugeye there. I can get you in contact with the owner in case you'd like to form a British Car Society of Molokai!

Welcome to the forum!

Hi Vick! I'm on the next island over (Oahu). There is a legendary british rally and race driver living on Molokai named John Sprinzel. Your TR3 is a great find! You should plan on coming over to Oahu in May for the British Car Day at Kapiolani Park. I have brought my TR2 there on many occasions.

Aloha

Thanx! I havent see the Bugeye on the island yet but would be most interested in hooking up with the owner to talk story if he's around.

I'd like to do that. It might be nice to ship it over to cruise the island too.

The Bugeye owner is John Sprinzel. Google him if you don't already know who he is. I'll send you his email address via PM.
I did. What a brilliant history! I hope I can get a chance to chat with him!
