Rodger,if the leds did not work on your positive ground car you simply had them connected the wrong way around. Reverse the leads---Keoke

Roger,
The original color was white. This was not a complete
repaint of everything when completely disassembled like most folks have done. I got the " pull=on, push=off " switches at pep boys.
Keoke is right. The LEDs should work as long as you have the polarity correct to the wires.

Hi Ed,
Thanks for taking the time to post the pictures.
Looks like your car is red, and the cut out, looks like is it in the radiator support? Looks like it's painted white?
You changed your car to negative ground? I could not get LED's to work on my positive ground car.

I was at Radio Shack looking for toggle switches that light up when on, the other day. I think I saw push buttons like yours that light up when depressed. In case that interests you.

Cheers, Roger

Roger,
Mine was assembled wrong at the factory. It worked the opposite as the labeling said it should work. I reversed the mechanism at the inlet valve but I had to " notch " out a small piece of frame metal to provide clearance for the end of the flapper arm to move. It must have been wrong from day 1 at the factory.

Seems my car was built by the same guy at the factory. I took mine apart to find it was installed backwards. An easy fix actually. Now taking your car apart to get to it is another story. As I'm sure we all know.

Thanks everyone for your input. Mine now works as the printing on the dash and knob say it should.

Cheers, Roger
