French 3 cylinder car racing in the late '70's

Any body see the old French racecar, 3 cylinder flat head, running SCCA races at Road Atlanta in the late '70 or early 80's? It was a little reminiscent of a soapbox derby car but well proportioned with big wire spoke wheels.

I think La Boa was American, wasn't it?

I thought I knew my French racing cars pretty well, and there were many of them! There were a number with flat-head (sidevalve) engines, often proprietary like the Ruby, but I don't remember a trois-cylindre!

Got any more clues?

Edit: I just had a thought - some of the 3-cylinder 2-strokes like SAAB, DKW, etc., look somewhat like side-valves - could the engine have been one of those?

Roger:
I may have a picture of it but to locate it will require some time. I recall the car to be blue in color and on narrow tires with the back wheels looking like a dog squatting. The driver may have had the dubious title of the oldest driver in SCCA. Single sweater, wire wheels with a side exhaust pipe.
