Freelander Update......

Yesterday, during heavy rain, of course, the wipers packed in. My wife checked the fuse as I taught her, and yep, it was blown..........the vehicle then proceeded to blow every fuse that she tried. It is also just out of warranty!

Bye-bye little Landy. Time to trade.

Re: Freelander Update......

Dunno.......she needs to drive something to find out. Probably recent-model used car rather than new, she likes the Jetta, I shall steer her towards either a 1.8T or VR6 (of course). Audi 1.8T Quattro looks good, Bimmer would be nice of course. You get the drift. Has to be something nice. Any recommendations?

Re: Freelander Update......

Any of what you said would be fine for me. My wife has a thing about Jettas - the image she has is of a kids car (she uses less flattering terms). I think they are fine - but then I also like wagons and minivans and she hates both of them. I didn't mind the TL and the Maxima, and quite liked the S60R (I was going to get a V70R instead of the Disco). Do not get the stock 2.4 with auto though it's a slug - we couldn't even get up to 60 on a long uphill onramp, which made merging scary.

If you want something closer to what you have you could do worse than go try a Forester XS. Doesn't have the image of the German models, but it's a lot better than I expected.

I'd better stop now...

Re: Freelander Update......

We were looking at Jetta TDIs.
After talking to unhappy owners,& all of their problems,
plus parts prices,we decided against it.
Nice cars to drive,though.

Re: Freelander Update......

Well, we went car shopping, she is getting a (used) VW Passat, decided that the Jetta was too much of kid's car......we had a Passat previously, and were very happy with it. Let's hope that this one works out as well.
