TR6 Free TR6 top

This is a free top to the first that wants it. All I ask is the shipping cost.

I have a spare top for my 76 TR6. It came with the car when I bought it and I have no need for it.

It has a couple of 3-corner tears (see the pics) otherwise it looks good.

A friend decided to drop my top once without TR6 knowledge and did the classic frame pinch shown here by not knowing how to pull out the top prior to dropping it. I had a local upholstery shop heat patch in a piece of matching vinyl that blends right in and can only be seen from the inside, if you're really looking.

Thats precisely my plan as well. Professional patch and install job.

Is your friend who pinched your top still a friend? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

He's not allowed any closer than 50 feet of my car, but other than that, I guess he's still a friend.

I had a 3-corner tear in my vinyl top. My friend is an upholsterer and I asked him what to do. He brought me a tube of material that worked great.
It is "VIP" Vinyl/Leather Repair. A company called, PLASTI DIP INTERNATIONAL, P.O.Box 130, Circle Pines, MN 55014 800-969-5432. Free call, ask them what to do.

I first applied the patch to the inside. I placed a flat surface under it and a flat weight on the outside and let it set for a few minutes. Then I did the outside. I should have only applied the "VIP" to the crack on the outside.

The entire process only took about 20 minutes total and much of that time was finding the flat pieces to use.

Otherwise this has been great. The repair is now over a year old and still flexible and the "VIP" material is still clear.
