<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:]pour a kettle of boiling water on the offending nut/bolt.[/QUOTE]

And because it's bigger and more efficient, it won't run as long or be as noisey.............AH-HUH..............

That bolt is st back into the pulley about 3". Would have to stand the car up to do that.
3 things still to try.
1. Got a shorter breaker bar
2.Try the electric one again
3.Rent a bigger compressor

I like the bigger compressor!

1 & 2 didn't work and since I an working the next 4 days nothin will happen until, at the earliest, Tuesday

Just for drill, keep sprayin' in there around the bolt head/pulley interface with PB Blaster every day between now and Tuesday.

...and mebbe talk to it soothingly.

hey, it can't hurt.

Just a few ideas that may lead to a solution.

Perhaps using a combination of PB Blaster and those cans of compressed air used for cleaning computer keyboards, etc. Turn that can upside down and you can freeze the nut, then hit it with PB Blaster to "warm" it. You could even put the PB Blaster can in a tub of warm water from the sink for a little while before hand. Trying to create a contraction/expansion result with the temp differences. It may be just enough to get it loose.....

Can you remove grill/radiator/etc. to get to the nut? Then you could use a longer/heavier extension and impact wrench / breaker bar, etc. Lots of work and probably a last resort I know....

That is one whoppin big thumb, should have no problem catching a ride with that baby..........

You tell me . Looks like a V8 valley to me and I have never seen one.
Tom- Piece of cake to do. Really easy if you have an unsmoged 4 barrel.
Little tougher with the fuely motor
There is coolant everywhere and my garage reeks of gasoline.

Doc made the suggestion before, have a truck tire repair guy put his 1 inch impact on it and if it doesn't come off with that, your in big trouble. Some of those big impacts, with a couple hundred pounds of pressure, have enough torque to actually damage truck lugs if left on long enough.

I'm a little late to this post, but if you still haven't gotten it with an impact wrench, try this. Use a longer extension to get out of the crank pulley a little farther. Support that extension with a jack stand or something similar. Now when you push down on the ratchet/breaker bar handle, all of the force will be transmitted inward. The socket won't twist and slip off the bolt. I've never seen one that wouldn't come off with the 1/2 inch electric impact thou. An air powered impact just won't get at one that is really stuck.

Paul and Todd. Way past that as you can see from the photo above. It just took an 8 CFM compressor with the air turned up to about 130.
Spun right off.
20 bucks for the rental
Todd see my post at Woody's site about heads!!!
