1 angry Wedge car that WON"T give up it's crank bolt.
Scolded it ,hit it with a rolled up newspaper.
Just won't listen.
Good luck

I'll have to siphon off some of the liqueur allocated to my wife

There are so many places I could go with that - better to just wish you a Happy New Year. LOL.

Breaker bar help at all?

Try a big wrench and a big hammer, I have had good lluck with impact when a breaker bar, even and enhance 2 foot long breaker bar wouldn't work. Have you tried the other kind of lubricating liquids--i.e. PB Blaster?

Work on the 6. LOL
Happy New Year and glad to be home with the snow gone.

thanks Mark!

Tried hitting my breaker bar with my hand sledge.
Don't know if the PB would work in the crank pulley.

How long of a piece of steel pipe do you have that will fit over the breaker bar? I once saw a five footer on the end of a breaker bar that did the job nicely, but go slow.

Unfortunately the motor is too far forward to use a long breaker bar from the top.(with the hood on) The bottom way is only as high as the car is off the ground. I have it sitting on ramps to make it easier to work from the engine bay.

Too bad. No possible angle to get anything longer on that, even for a 1/8th turn? It will only take that first 1/16" movement on the threads to get it loose.

The longer the bar the more movement at the end!

I tried a breaker bar and a hammer, breaker bar had some flex in it, lessening the impact, a large closed end spanner will have a wider cross section and less flex to absorb the impact of the hammer blow.

I discovered this after several days of trying to get a stuck crank nut off of a Healey.

I got mine (big wrench) for 10 bucks or so at a tractor supply place.

As far as the PB Blaster--can't hurt, might help

The bolt is down inside a pulley and harmonic balance. The 3" extension barely make it out

OOOOOHHHHH! Well that makes a difference! Guess I have a thing or two to learn about those fancy modern motors.

So, either get the car up higher, or hook a come-a-long to the breaker bar.

HF has a set of jackstands that reach to 24" for under $40; and I made some stacks of 2x4 to raise them another 4.5".

I used a 3/4" drive deep socket on my air impact driver to get that one out

:iagree: though mine's a 1/2" drive.

Bro's Hondroid crank bolt needed removing (cam belt replacement) a few months ago, same issue. Thing would NOT "un-do". two-foot long Snappy breaker, 3/4" windy impact, 3/4" ELECTRIC impact... thing was apparently WELDED in. It finally took a trip to a truck repair facility and a 1" impact windy to get it out!

Using a 1/2 drive. I borrowed my neighbors compressor as mine is for nail guns. It too is to small My gun needs 90PSI/ 6.5 CFM and the pressor only delivers 3.5/minute.

So somewhere I need t get a bigger compressor I guess.

Get your socket and breaker bar onto the nut, put some serious torque on the bar, and while torque is still being applied, pour a kettle of boiling water on the offending nut/bolt.

Still get a bigger compressor though, tell the wife you can blow the driveway clean with it, thats always a good sell........................
