Just read in another forum where he's passed on.
He was a big name in Formula 1.

Just heard last night while watching the FP2.
Sir William has been a force in F1 since forever.

Watched F1 since childhood, Williams has been there for a long time. Sad to know he's gone, his daughter gave a valiant effort to keep things going. Like Lotus and Hesketh though, MHO is Williams will fade from the F1 scene.

But Lewis is on pole today, Max shunted into the wall at the last turn in Q3... Will be watching the race live here.

Hateful event. That venue should be lifted from next year's schedule IMHO.

Did like to see Damon Hill in the old DFV powered Williams do a lap wearing his father's helmet tho.

Hope Frank was getting a grin outta that.

Anyone think Mercedes got robbed?
Count me as one. Changing from: "back-markers will not pass the safety car" for four laps, to one lap left and "allow back-markers to go past the safety car" was the FIA being... ummm, *expletive deleted*.

And it wasn't Mercedes that was robbed. They had enough points to get the Manufacturer's Championship. It was Lewis.

...but I could be called a conspiracy theorist.

A year or two ago Lewis Hamilton sued Hamilton watch to void their European trademark of "Hamilton." The only problem with that is that the Hamilton Watch company was founded in 1892.

Here's an excerpt from the European ruling clipped from "the sports rush" website.

"In its ruling, the EUIPO said: ‘The argument relating to the IP rights of the racing driver ‘Lewis Hamilton’ fails. The contested mark consists solely of one word ‘HAMILTON’, and not ‘LEWIS HAMILTON’. It is a rather common surname in English-speaking countries.

‘There is no ‘natural right’ for a person to have his or her own name registered as a trademark when that would infringe third parties’ rights.’ it was further stated.

‘Even the cancellation applicant explicitly accepted that the contested mark ‘HAMILTON’ had been used since 1892, i.e. even before the date of birth of ‘Lewis Hamilton’ as a natural person."

Here's a link where you can read what was said on radio by the drivers (that were baffled by race control's actions).
Here's the FIA's statement on the mess.

Disappointing. The shame was two drivers were worthy of being champion; either winner would have been well deserved. Instead this year will always have an asterixis by it.

I am not a Max fan (excessively aggressive driving style, and comes across as somewhat of a jerk), but his driving this year was incredible. I have come to respect Lewis (he has come a long way since he punted Kimi in the pit lane Canada as a young driver :p ). And both are incredible drivers.

Masi needs a rocket up his... well, he doesn't need to be race director in '22, anyway.

....almost makes me pine for Bernie to return... o_O

Hamilton has in my opinion always been a fair player who respected his competitors and a gentleman on and off the track.
Even when his 'team mate' Fernando openly impeded him on the track and in the pits, I knew he would be a world champion.
Max has always taken the low road whenever he made a decision.
I think he's the most dangerous driver in the field, even measured against the back markers.
His personality is frankly creepy, I don't understand his popularity.
