There will be a Live Webcast with four Congressional Medal of Hoonor recipients sharing their stories. The web cast is tomorrow, Friday, 24 Feb, 10-11 AM PST, 11AM-12PM MST, 12PM-1PM CST and of course 1PM - 2PM EST. Because the host of the event might be construed as a political organization, I will not post the link here. If you are interested, PM me with a preferred email address and I'll be happy to forward the email that contains the link to this live web cast.

These guys are truly heroic. But how do you know whether or not you would act the same in the same set of circumstances. What causes men to do deeds like these? I'm sure that they don't view themselves as anything special. It's an interesting insight into the human condition. :confuse:

Any of them I've ever heard speak of it, to a man they say they're not the heroes and they wear the medal for those who can't.

Read up on the story of John Basilone. He won the MOH for actions on Guadalcanal and was sent home to raise war bonds. He demanded to go back into combat was killed on the first day in the battle of Iwo Jima.

That was chronicled in the Mini Series "The Pacific"

In The Great War (ie. WW1), there was a decorated Canadian soldier who was given an assignment back in England after time in the trenches, he tried it out but in the end gave it up to re-join his troops over in Europe... He was killed in action before the end of the war... By all accounts, he would have become a great Canadian leader after the war was over, but we never got to know... I've forgotten his name (from a documentary I saw) but have never forgotten his story...
