Found this on Ebay...

Notice that even on the last Midgets in England that they still had a nice looking dash instead of the "US" version!!
 
Weird and other-worldly. If I had known 1976-1978 that I was watching a classic go by I'd have acted differently. I worked more or less full time at BL Cowley in those years, albeit as a systems engineer for IBM, and watched the completed Midget body shells being trucked from Cowley to Abingdon every day. Everyone knew that Abingdon's future was uncertain after the Special Tuning operation got axed - you have to understand that Abingdon is not an industrial or manufacturing town, it is a charming small town situated on the picturesque River Thames, definitely in that part of England you would call "rural". Abingdon is typically English, quite well worth visiting if you ever go to England as a tourist, although there is no trace left of the factory, sadly, but there is a museum.
