MGB found MGB backseat - how special is it?

Needed the subframe off an MGB Roadster I found at the junkyard so bought the whole car. It was cheaper than buying patch panels. A pleasant discovery was a rear bottom seat that matched the front seats. Have heard this is unusual. Can anyone tell me anything about it?

Sounds to me like someone just set a GT bottom seat in the roadster body... they have the same size shelf there.

Agreed. It's a GT rear seat base. They never came with the roadster but fit the same as in the GT. Quite useless since even a small child's head would protrude above the windshield!

Actually, they were an option from the factory....the ones with them had extra snaps so the seat would stay in place...I know, I bought one with the seat in place

...but, they really are just the bottom of a GT seat that's been modified to fit around the seat belts

The early Datsun Fairlady roadster had a sideways rear seat in the back.

Mark...it does but the factory roadster seats had 2 extra snaps in the rear corners so it wouldn't slide forward
