In a JY not running, needs to be pulled. 4.2L. While I'm tempted, last thjing I need is an engine for a project I neither own nor can afford to buy/build.

Focus, Billy, focus. Time to enjoy what you have and not take on anything else...

I know, I know. Good advice as always. I need to learn to be content, however; it seems I'm never satisfied. There always seems to be a good deal.

Once I sell the 6 I have now I'll be back onto the 210/1500 5 speed swap.

IF you miss out on a good deal,

A better one always comes around the corner.

I struggle with the same thing -- see my recent post on my current vehicle sell off. For me, I've finally come to terms with the fact that one project at a time is my limit, both financially and mentally. I'm far happier when I can go deep on one thing then when I have to spread my resources (time and money) across a bunch.

CZ_dave is right, there's always another deal. My question is then do you enjoy the item (and the things you do with it) or just the deal itself? I've a good friend locally who I think more enjoys the deal he got than the item involved.

The deal is always juice for me, whether buying or selling. I like having the stuff too; that is juice as well. That's why I bought and sold cars/stuff for a living...well, I used to. I LOVE to buy and I LOVE to sell. It's the stuff in between that kills my buzz.

If I had the time and resources, I'd put a big block on a Big Wheel.

I too know I can't keep anything and can olny afford one car. problem is, there are cars I can't sell for any reason.

betcha you could - want me to make you a list of reasons?

Seriously, a few years ago we were sitting waiting for Hurricane Francis to arrive. At that point everyone thought it was the big one - it was, big, just not as severe. Anyways, my wife & I were sitting talking about what to take if we had to be evacuated. we LIKE our stuff and there are many important memories enshrined therein. After about 10 minutes we realized we would take the pictures, the legal documents and clothes, lock the door and walk away. That moment and that conversation forever changed my relationship to "stuff." (and it's all just "stuff.")

Don't get me wrong, I love my cars, I love my home, I love what I own but none of it is a marriage or a child or even a job and if it should ever have to go, it goes.

BTW, as someone who has definite packrat tendencies, who is married to someone who doesn't, I've also come to realize in a really profound way that too much stuff causes me stress.

so how did this all get serious all of a sudden?

It's winter, it's cold, it's dark... thoughts tend towards the serious side.

She is a pack rat and it drives me nuts. I can't tell you how many empty boxes and bubble wrap we have here. She keeps it for shipping pottery, but the amount we have is ridiculous. Yes, it stresses me out.

Cars I can't sell and why:

1. VW Bug, mom's first new car, the car I grew up in and was given to me by my grandmother ( who used it last) on my 38th birthday. Last VW in a VW family.

2. 89 S10: Given to me by the grandfather I never had. Out of all his kin and folks he knew, he chose to give it to me. Best man I ever met. It's a true Honor to have his truck and a great keep sake.

3. My race car: It's my first race car, it was very successful, it got me my job on the team, no one will give me anything for it and I can't bare to crush it. I might make it street legal again if I have the money one day.

4. Midget: our wedding car, inadvertently gave it to Kelly on her birthday. I have too much in it and like it too much.

Everything else is for sale.
