Found a place to Dyno my car...

I found a place in Kenner, LA (New Orleans area) that dynos street machines. I am finally gonna find out what my true rear wheel horsepower is after all my hot rodding. Might be a while before I can get there as they only do this M-Th, in the evening. Will keep ya'll informed of the results. If the dyno shows the horsepower to be way lower than I hoped for, then I will lie to the forum......

Sounds like a root canal is in some unsuspecting patient's future.

We're not going to believe anything you say unless you post a copy of the dyno readout.

Lets start a pool. Pick the number of ponies you think he will pull on the dyno. $5 per pick. The winner gets the honor of being the winner. All money goes to Basil to help with the overhead.

Since we have to start somewhere, I'll take 110HP BOBH

I'm in for a fin. Knowing what Bill has done, I'll say 125HP at the rear wheels. I'm hoping that is what mine says (or better).

Let's all agree how to pay and when.

If Bill will give us a heads up a few days before he heads to the dyno. At that point we stop the "bidding". After he completes his runs he will post the numbers and a copy of the data sheet. Bill can announce the winner.
Should we send checks to Basil? PayPal? Suggestions?

If this works out as a fun way to raise a couple of dollars for the forum we could do the same for Pauls car and anyone else who plans to hit the dyno.

I'm in for a sawbuck. I say 140 hp. That's being optimistic I know. So my chances of "winning" might be off a bit. Let's hope I don't melt my cam again.

To those that perhaps are not aware of the mods: 9.5:1 CR, head ported (3 angle) and polished, S2 cam, chromoly pushrods, intake flowed, triple ZS carbs, 6-3-2 headers with free-flow exhaust, tuned dizzy, Poolboy-timed, roller rockers, Pertronix ignition, etc. N2O (just kidding!) Let the games begin....

OK, I'm in for a fin.

118.5 HP at the REAR WHEELS...148 HP at the flywheel. I assume you're gonna crank this to 6000 rpm.

Edit: Does the winner have to pay, or does everyone just pay??

I hope to do mine this summer at the Boston MG Club Dyno Day. If they do it again. If not, I may just go there alone and have a few pulls run to see what it's doing.

Humm. Well I do kind a have a vested interest and I did neglect to take a ride in that mochine when I had the chance, but I'm going to be a bit conservative. How about 112.5 at the wheels ? That's about a 25% increase at the wheels over stock, right ?
Whatever, it's a bad engine and would take me faster than I'd ever want to go.

Hi Paul,
Do you know what your car was doing at the rear wheels before you had the engine rebuilt last summer? With all the great work that you've done on your engine, I would think that 125hp would be on the low end of what you'd be doing now.

I think all the bets should be pooled and given to the BCF. The winner gets "bragging rights."

Rich,

My original engine, low compression, stock cam, with the triples, headers and reworked curve was at 92HP at the rear wheels on the last dyno run. But it was running PIG rich at WOT at that time, so that didn't help at all. I may have maxed out at 95 or 96 with a leaner WOT reading.

EDIT: Sorry Bill, I hit submit too fast. OK, I'll go the $10 with you and I'll PayPal mine to Basil tomorrow. He can hold the funds for a total just to award bragging rights. People can contribute whatever they wish.

That was going to be my next question. There was a "support page" at one time, but I don't see it now.
