1970 Midget parts car that looks fantastic. No title, being sold for parts. Someone rescue this. In the Reno area.

"I'm can't believe I'm seriously considering bidding on this...Reno is a 14 hour drive from Seattle (with Red Bull and cold pizza)."

Take a big trailer so you can bring them both back in one trip. That will save on the cold pizza.

I did a 23 hour, round-trip, non-stop tow (except for fuel and coffee) in January to get my Austin.
It's a disease. :jester:

Re: Forget the "Barney Mobile" on ebay....look at this

A "parts car" only due to the lack of a title??

Re: Forget the "Barney Mobile" on ebay....look at this

Seems so, doesn't it? It has California plates, and it's straightforward to get a replacement title here if Ca is where it was last registered. Might be a problem, though, if he isn't the guy who last registered it--easier to say t'heck with it and call it a parts car.

I dunno what happens if you belly up to the DMV desk and ask to register it, with only a bill of sale and no proof that the guy you bought it from acquired it legally. Could be a problem.

Car seems eminently restorable, though.

Re: Forget the "Barney Mobile" on ebay....look at this

I'd guess a Carfax title search would be useful.
There might be a problem with claiming buyer in due course
when the seller is telling you he has no title.
Applying for a duplicate title is usually very simple
when the CURRENT title holder assists and a Carfax should disclose who has the title currently.
There is an old maxim in the law: Caveat Emptor = Let the buyer beware

Re: Forget the "Barney Mobile" on ebay....look at this

I thought Carfax only went back to like '78 or something.

Re: Forget the "Barney Mobile" on ebay....look at this

It should be able to tell you if it's been registered in the last couple of decades and judging by the looks of it I'd hazard a guess it has been registered since 1978.
As a parts car it wouldn't matter but I was suggesting it might be a source to find the holder of the title in order to get
a new title issued a little easier.
Maybe not.

Re: Forget the "Barney Mobile" on ebay....look at this

Looks like a parts car to me! :p

Look at that engine bay shot... "Previous owner says engine rebuilt only a few thousand miles ago." Hah! I'm guessing that under the newish paint (and those seat covers!) lies a lot of rust, wear and previous bungling.

Re: Forget the "Barney Mobile" on ebay....look at this

Durn, always on the other end of the country, I could make a buck or two with that.

Re: Forget the "Barney Mobile" on ebay....look at this

Guess times are tough.

Why, just why are these not in Miss, Ala, Ga, or Florida. Oh that's right Tony got all of those. LOL

Re: Forget the "Barney Mobile" on ebay....look at this

The seller ended this listing early because the item is no longer available for sale.
