OK, here's the last installment of the 1050cc engine, my part is done, I as just contracted to bottom end, the customer has his head. I ditch the earlier flet seal timing cover and opted for the later 948/1098 timing cover that uses the rubber seal. I add a top timing pointer on it as well. I got to do a little touch up and put in some core plugs, and rady it for palletting to be truck shipped, but it basicly done. In review, here's a quick run down on what in this motor.
.060 998 flat top piston, which are .120" over for the 948 and make it have 1044cc.
1098 connecting rods to work with the floating pin type piston the 998 used, the 1098 flaoting rods were "race prepped" resulting in 120 grams per rod less weight, polish, beadblasted. sized, balnced and fitted with new ARP rod bolts.
Crankshaft, ground and polished
APT VP 266 camshaft
Isky style chilled iron lifter
Dual timing chain
new oil pump.
Payen gaskets
King tri metal bearing
The deck height on the pistons worked out to be a range of about .016" to .019" , so the compression ratio will be right un 10.0 to 1 with the customers head volume.
He using a 12G295 cylinder head with 1.31 (1275) intake valve, not sure if he parted it or not, not really involved in that aspect of the job.
So there ya go, yet another way to skin a cat
