I don't know how well known he is down in the United States, I suspect he was, ???

But Canadian jazz great Oscar Peterson passed away today, a sad way to enter into Christmas.

Wow. For those of us who grew up back in the day as band geeks - particularly jazz band geeks - Oscar Peterson lands somewhere between revered and worshiped. His technique was surpassed only by his innate feel for the music. He will live on through the music that will continue to touch peole for generations.

Here's a toast to one of the great ones.
