For the Lady Gaga Fans

Nice, indeed! And to see Julie Andrews truly moved was great! I wondered what would be next for her after her duets with Tony Bennett. (Hope those continue.) Haven't been a fan, but may be now!

I missed it (watching Downton Abby) but I had heard it was good.

Just watching this vid....very nice indeed!

I'm not a fan, but that performance was very good. That was one thing about the show I liked (yes, we watched). A lot I didn't like personally, but it was what it was.

and when you know Julie Andrews was waiting in the wings

Still can't picture the Gaga person as a nun ("Climb Every Mountain"). :p

I saw an interview a little while back and she's actually a pretty cool person from what I've heard from her so far; it completely changed the way I think about her. The gist of it was, she like to be around and see creative people be creative without having any restrictions placed on them. I'm really glad to see her kill it like this, she definitely has talent. That was delightful and I can't over emphasize how much I hate The Sound of Music. IMO she really needed to do this "just because".

It just goes to show that no matter how smart or talented you are, most if not all folks are too near sighted to take you seriously unless you act or dress the way they think you should.

Quite a voice. Her antics had me less-than interested in her performances. But she impressed with that latest gig.

Great voice, I'm happy that at least one pop performer nowadays doesn't need a lot of post production work done in the studio to sound good.
As a wind player, I dig the trumpet tattoo, thought it would be better if it were a clarinet.

Never much liked it myself.
When I was in Saltzburg in 2010 there were "Sound of Music" tours all over the place... and it's a bit much. We didn't do one. It was fun, though, to wander through the graves that they hid behind or to stand in the square where they escaped from the concert (all in the movie). Amusing, too, that so many people thought that Edelweiss was the national song of Austria (with local rolling their eyes).

Of more interest to me was to tour (walk through) Mozart's home as well as visit the graves of his father (Leopold) and his wife (Constanza). Also, one can take special trips to Hitler's "Eagles Nest" (which isn't far away).

We did - just where they filmed the laneway and (I think) parts of the villa. Oddest room you can imagine! 300 year old family antiques next to walmart tables. and the Fruitiest (word used advisedly) Count you can imagine as our host. That said, we had a piano recital from a professor from the conservatory (Usually a student but none could come) it was one of the most magical things I have ever heard. OTOH I couldn't bring myself to go to the eagle's Nest - with parent's who grew up in Holland during the war, it didn't seem right.

Interesting. Because we didn't take a S-of-M tour, we never saw/knew where the "VonTrap" home was on that lake.

As for Eagle's Nest... heck, I had relatives that were killed on Auschwitz (and have been there too). 'Course, my curiosity is as a history buff (and little else).

Musta drove you bananas, good thing there wasn't a pear of 'em. Did he do a berry good job? :playful:

Oh there was a pear O them all right. :jester:

Bean down that road before?:playful: Then you know you shoulda squashed the idea before they beet it to death. I fig a fella like you wouldn't have grape expectations.

You guys are getting a little goofy, I will echo the comments of being very impressed with her performance, she and Bruno Mars, who did the Super Bowl last year, stand out to me among todays pop stars as having actual talent and not being sort of a pre-packaged, artificially augmented show (well they do have props and aids too, but both hold up well without them, very well), with more fluff than substance, I am not a huge fan of either of their musical libraries, but recognize their talent. I will also add that I have seen Ga Ga interviewed and she seems to be intelligent, well spoken and considerate. But you know what, sad thing is it probably took all the hype and craziness to get the talent noticed.
