Love the Snakes & my old Huey.

But that had to of been a blast (literally!) to see the F-18s on the deck like that!

Got’a love the Blues! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbsup.gif

Thanks for sharing.

Great shots Mike! Thanks for showing them. The WWII aircraft brought back some memories. Had a couple of rides in an old B24 Liberator in the late 50s. Noisy, very noisy! Also flew a B25 in the 60s for a private owner. The prop tips, which were very close to your ears, gave off a very high pitch noise that was quite uncomfortable at times, especially with the head phones off. A joy to fly though, a real joy! The 25 is in the back ground and me and my Stearman in flight. I just love old airplanes. PJ

You've got a Stearman, Paul?!?!?!?!?!

WOW!

There is a Stearman gathering every fall in Galesburg, IL....ever been there?

The University of Illinois sold their Stearman a few years back to Rudy Frasca. They used to offer aeobatic lessons, etc.

The plane is still in Urbana, IL, hangered along with Rudy's Spitfire(s), P-40, T6, replica Zero, replica FW190, and more!

Oh my God, those are the coolest pictures I have seen in a looooooong time. I luuuuuuuuuuuuuuuv the angel on the deck pictures. Thats just awesome. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Those guys are incredible!
We got to see them at the Naval Academy graduations in
2005 & 2006.Amazing.
It must be even more impressive on the SF Bay.

Well, let me clarify the statement a little more. Yes that's me in my Stearman and the 25 in the background is the one I use to fly. But a few years back I sold the Stearman when the boys graduated from collage and needed a start. They both graduated with honors and have made us very proud. It was the least I could do for them. I had the plane for quite a few years and when the boys were small, I would put them on my lap, strap in, and take them flying, one at a time. They never forgot the thrill of it and now our youngest works for American Airlines, plus has his own airport on his property in Oklahoma, big hanger and all. The oldest loves to fly, but is to busy in his business to take the time. I fly now only when I go to Oklahoma. Heck, out there, I have a couple of planes to fly for free and all I pay for is gas. Can't beat that with a stick!

/bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thankyousign.gif for sharing. The shots of the Blue Angels were certainly awesome. One question? Were they legal? The maneuvers, not the pictures. Just kidding. I saw them when hubby and I lived in Miami and there was an airshow at Opalocka and they were part of the show. Airshows are like the Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque, you just have to be there to really see it all.

When I was in the Navy, the F4's were awesome. I am glad to see some still survive.

I recall during a war games exercise in the late 60's, they came in trying to attack us. We always picked them up and targeted with our systems. That is until one of those guys broke the rules of the game and came in on the deck. The boom was all we heard. CIC did track him as he left us in the dust. So much for a then $200,000,000 nuclear missile cruiser. Then there was the subs....

One fantastic photographer.
