Ok ,That is really weird. After reading Doug's post I went up to the pic and I saw 1993 too. Went down to Greg's and read his.
Paged back up to the top and sure enough. 1933.
Sumpins fishey round here!

For all of you who saw 1993....

Optical delusions or figments of our demented imaginations??!

Ooooh, that was fun! Thanks Tom!!!

A few nits (here we go)

1. The plate on the front of the car that says "Police" is incorrect. Size is okay, but the lettering is wrong, and the sign should be the same as the number plate, silver letters on a black background.

2. The black and white armband signified that an officer was on duty. It was worn around the cuff, not that high on the sleeve.

3. The helmet is wrong. The straps indicate that this is one from the eighties. In addition, officers wore flat caps in these cars because the wind would blow their helmets off. The helmet, to be more authentic, should have one single strap, resting on the point of the chin. The badge on the helmet should ideally be flat black.

4. The tunic of that era did not have numbers on both collar and shoulder epaulettes. Back then it was the collar only. The numbers did not make the transition to the shoulder until the high-collar tunics were phased out, some time in the fifties.

5. The chain for the whistle goes from the second tunic button into the side of the breast pocket.

Pedantic, aren't I?

Steve, I had a chance to speak with Bill (the owner) for a few minutes. He graciously rang the bell and beeped the horn for my kids. Bill really seemed to enjoy that my kids liked his car. He even let my kids try out the antique hand-cuffs he had - kids loved that! LoL

I think Bill would want to know about the incorrect details. He hunted and hunted to find the cuffs so I think he would want to make everything as accurate as possible.

You should see if you can contact him to share those details with him. I think he'd appreciate it.
