Re: "FOR SALE": KING DICK JACK, WRENCH & STORAGE BAG:

Hey, I discovered I have one of these in my MK1 Midget parts car.
Didn't realize how valuable it is.
What do you recommend for cleaning it up? Mine was painted red, will go nicely with my red MK2 Sprite.
I'm thinking the soda & battery trick for removing any rust, does anyone have a link to a description of that process?

Re: "FOR SALE": KING DICK JACK, WRENCH & STORAGE BAG:

Hi Rick,

I simply take a Drill, mount a 3" wire brush & let it fly.

"Everything" comes off.

Then mask-off thds, primer paint & final "BLACK" paint as Orig.

The gent who bought my Jack (Had the Pat. No. clearly visible), Wrench (Clearly visible stamping), Bag & a Lug Wrench sold for $150.00 incl. shipping.

He now is selling just a "Wrench" (With a Pat. No on it or something) for $160.00 by itself!!!!!!

If I only knew then, what I know now!!!!!!

Good Luck,

Russ

Re: "FOR SALE": KING DICK JACK, WRENCH & STORAGE BAG:

Hiya Bill, well if you mean that you have the soda set up and you want me to bring my parts by...

Lets see, I have to mow the grounds today after work...

SWMBO will be wanting my help to get ready for our friends who are coming to stay the weekend...

Need to do some more work on the sprite, last I left her with her dash hanging by the wiring... (that's no way to treat a lady, no way to treat your baby...) :nonod:

Are you busy tomorrow morning???
(I mean other than working on your cars)

Do a google search on "electrolytic rust removal" and quite a bit will come up! Basically quite simple...The necessities are some Bicarbonate of soda, a bucket/container (large enough to submerge the part) of water, an iron rod and a battery charger.

Hey Guys & Gals,

Why make it so hard on yourself.

A simple 3" wire brush on a drill or 3"-4" wire brush on a grinder / buffer motor, and you`ll create the cleanest metal you can find!!

Its fast as well.

I think it's the fun science experiment aspect of the whole thing, not just being goal oriented but mixing it up a bit with some process oriented fun...
