For Doc - Rutabaga Queen

This is/was the original event started by Hobart Brown & other "offbeat" artists
back in 1979.I've heard they have events like this in Boston, etc now.
The Kinetic Sculpture is where unnormal people seem normal, just like Halloween.

We’ve been participating the last 5 years with > Gallery – Plan Bee Kinetic <
Silly human powered kinetic fun. We race 50ish miles on land, in sand, through cow pastures, in Humboldt Bay, and in the Eel River, starting in Arcata and finishing in Ferndale. Oh, and you think old cars break down a lot… when artists “engineer” and build stuff, things often go sideways.

For a couple years here, da 'mits an' me marched in the Fourth of July Parade as members of "The Red White and Blue Kazoo Review."
Marched 2.5 miles blowin' "Yankee Doodle" and suchlike. Even did the Macarena in front of the judging stand one year and won "Best Band in Parade" for the effort... we can appreciate the art of FUN!

RUTABAGA!!!

That's cool!Why haven't you posted about that?
Everybody knows somebody who did the Kinetic race in Eureka.

It’s just part of everyday life, right?
Saturday morning I found a gnarly cracked fork end when we were supposed to be at the plaza in 90 minutes. It was truly amazing to find a welder who opened his shop to get us rolling again, RS welding in Arcata, Ryan is the man! A great guy and an excellent welder…
