Football-Rutgers/St Louis

Today's my "early" day, so after work, I drive down to my folk’s house (110 miles south) to do a little work on my Dad’s car.

Dear old Dad is 80+ now and he had been trying to fix something on the Buick, but he just wasn’t quite strong enough to unscrew some of the offending bolts.

So the fix turned out to be easy. They feed me, I bring them up to date with the kids, and then, since it’s still bright, I head north to Home.

I can go two ways to Home from their place: Through Princeton or past Rutgers.

For some reason, I decide to take the roads past Rutgers…right past the Rutgers football stadium.

The ride was going well until I start to hit traffic on Rt. 18 just south of Rutgers…then it’s gets heavier and turns into the most impossible gridlock I have ever seen.

Does anyone know what’s happening at Rutgers tonight? I didn’t!

Apparently they are playing some big football game against St Louis. And I drove right into that mess! For once, I wished I'd payed a bit more attention to the sports section in the paper.

It took me four hours to go 110 miles and two of those hours I only moved about 5 miles.

Maybe it would be different if I actually knew something about football…which I don’t.

From now on, I heading through Princeton….their teams *never* qualify for any big games. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

Yeah, but wasn't that the Rutgers/Louisville football game?

I think you are right there Tony. Didn't pay much attention when I heard that Rutgers had won. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/savewave.gif

Now, here's the thing about the BCS- we have all these 1 loss teams in the top ten and two undefeated teams at 1 and 2. No one (on ESPN) seems to be considering that November 18th when Ohio State plays Michigan, whoever loses that game, assuming it is a decent gam, should still be number 2. None of the other 1 loss teams lost to the team ranked 1 or 2 at the end of the season. Many lost to unranked teams (USC for instance).

Assuming Michigan and Ohio State win out other than November 18, they should meet again....but the BCS won't let that happen for TV ratings sake, I'm sure.

BCS computers and TV money! I think they could drag more money out of a play-off!

Hey, it's kind of exciting for us to see a little football energy back in the BigEast conference, after so many years of ho-hum.
