Folding soft top frame

I am just about to start the refurbishment of the folding frame for my soft top.

The frame is currently black in colour but I understand the correct colour to be grey?

I did wonder if I could get the frame powder coated? Has anyone else tried this or would the heat of the powder coating process twist the frame? Also the pivot sections may not work too well being powder coated?

BN4 frame is a 'lichen' colour, sort of pastel green/grey over red oxide primer. I'll be painting mine in the next few days using 2k urethane matched to the original colour.

Andy.

I had mine powder coated recently and no problem with warping or pivots being stiff or restricted.

Sorry folks, I should have introduced myself! The avatar is of a stripped 1957 BN4 - I'm due to get the painted body back in the next few weeks, so hopefully will be able to show progress, or lack of it, as the spring progresses. Every possible part has been cleaned, painted or powdercoated; I've rebuilt the engine and now just need a shell to fit it all in or on.

I painted ours with spray cans and the first time I attempted to unfold it, it got scratched where the bows slide past each other. I immediately removed it and it is currently at the powder coaters.

My brother powdercoated mine and said

"They sent the other part over as well and it looks like ASA 70 light grey, which we can do, but don’t do very often. They told me it looked like standard electrical grey, but it’s not."

Powdercoat it in the opened position, and media blast prior
