Fog lights and mount

I had a few inquiries on the fog lights and mount on a previous post, so I thought I would share. I liked the rally look on the Healey and did my research on what the cars used back in the day.

A lot of the cars I found used 5 inch fog lights, others used 6 or 7 inch lights. I bought a set of 5 inch and without the bumper, I thought they were too small. I decided to go for the the big light look. The ones I ended up using are 6 inch and a little smaller than the headlights, which are 7 inch. The other thing to decide was where to locate the fog lights. I played with a number of different locations and fabricated other brackets that used the holes in the frame for the bumper, but I thought it put the lights too far apart and found the location that I thought was just right. Fortunately it allowed for a simple attachment bracket to mount.

I found the lights that I wanted at a great price at eagleeyelights.com

Price: $19.48 ea
Delivered price for the set: $49.06 (Sacramento)
Item No. 1516SCC5
Housing: Metal
Bulb: 55w Halogen
Projects: Clear
Beam: Fog
Wiring: None
Sold by: Piece

I fabricated the brackets out of 1/8 inch stock, starting with cardboard and ending with what you see. I can't remember if I drilled a new hole, but I think I used the existing holes that were already in the car. I attached them after paint, as you can see by the painted bolts.

They are on there very solid. They do not bounce around as was my fear.

Sure looks great.

Your car is beautiful. Thanks for sharing the information on the lights/mounting brackets. I have a pair of heavy gauge mounts that are designed to be bolted onto the frame holes/bumper frames. May decide they are too far apart after seeing your car.

Thanks again!

Charlie

It looks like I posted the wrong info for the lights. I will correct on Monday. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Looks period correct, nice job mounting them.
Are you going to protect them with anything?
Like the wire mesh as you have on your main headlights?
To protect my headlights, I have a clear film, like they use on the front of cars... generic name, clear bra. The film they use for the headlight is much thicker and stiffer than the film they use on the body of the car.
