I guess if you really want a Delorean, that is the one to have!!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif

My ex-girlfriends brother is totally gaga over Deloreans. He always thought the gulwings where too cool.

Talking to a few owners I warned him that you truly want one he better get used to all the McFly jokes. But I guess it could be worse because before the Back to the Future movies there was all the cocaine jokes about Deloreans. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Told'em if you can handle all that then by all means go & get yerself a Delorean.

Its funny how the cinema can impact the character of a vehicle. Case in point – folks always comment about my other car being the “Risky Business Car”. But when pressed if I listen to Bob Seger’s “Old Time Rock & Roll” and dance around in my boxers. I remind them that the 928 was Tony (Scarface) Montana’s first choice too.

Unless you are C&D. I have the mag on my desk. Their review wasn't exactly glowing...

Deloreans aren't very good cars. They are just neat to look at because they are different. And there are too many BTTF replicas out there to make them any more interesting than the normal ones! That replica is pretty nice though.

I recall cam problems/changes and a bunch of electrical problems. Volvo engine. Rist's made the harness, not Lucas. Mebbe THAT was the problem? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

EDIT: Rist's made looms for Lucas too, IIRC. But the "J. LUCAS & Sons" name was on 'em.

/bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif I promised I'd not be slaggin' th' fro... french anymore, remember? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Perhaps they aren't as good at collaborating as they appear at first blush. Or maybe it's just because it was designed with Volvo and not BMW or VW /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Sorry, it's a looong day today. Couldn't help it...

Most reliable car I have ever owned.....

Keep in mind that I purchase my daily drivers cheap & drive them until the wheels come off...

And the other cars I have are British.

Oh....And mine will be for sale soon.

OK.....Disregard anything I have to say about DeLoreans /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rolleyes.gif

Maybe Crypty gives me so much heartache
because DPO Pedro installed a K-Mart blue
light special flux capacitor instead of
an original Lucas model??

Blarrrrgh!! I wish I'd thunk of that before.

Technically, DeLoreans are British, I thought?

Italian styling, American entrepreneurship, French drive train German electronics & Irish labor....

Oh yes....Brit $
A lot of it disappeared after DeLorean & Chapman became buddies.
(Colon died in 81 & JD skipped the country thus denying Thatcher her pound of flesh)

Ah, th' good ol' days. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif

Of course, the Northstar V8 powered ones that people have converted are absolutely awesome in terms of performance.

If I had a cool 30 grand sitting around, I'd also consider one of those ground up restos from DMC in Texas. But that wouldn't terribly high on blowmoneyometer.

I've transported over 25 Deloreans for my customers when I was in the auto transport biz...the one's with automatics were so weak that they didn't have enough power to drive onto my truck under noraml speed...I had to get a 'running start'...pretty sad.

Yea....NEVER-NEVER-NEVER get an automatic....
(The 5 speed is pretty gutless w/ 145 hp & 3680 lbs)

However.....

As a date car...It can't be beat for the cash.
Women love it!
They can wear a dress, be comfortable and arrive looking like a rock star's date.

But....
The clutch is VERY heavy....I mean uncomfortably HEAVY...WTH? (gotta hold back all those horses?)

And the visibility is atrocious...
So far I have almost killed 2 motorcyclists and frightened the heck outta a few others....You can't see em!
