What's recommended for dashpot oil, brake and clutch fluids? Thanks.

Herb, I use the following in my E type; dash pots on carburetors - Marvel Mystery Oil. (a strait 30W motor oil is OK) Brakes and brakes have Castrol dot 4. I highly recommend Castrol 20/50W for the motor.

Hi Satzman,

I tried various oils, each has it's own characteristics. What you need to keep in mind is what affect each oil has on the AFR mixture. I found 20w to work for me. I received good response on acceleration. I've, also, tried ATF. I will know more when I get my "Innovate" AFR controller setup to measure the AFR at idle, during acceration, and at cruise speeds.

Herb,
I agree with John on the DOT 4 and the 20/50, although I use the same 20/50 for my dash pots as I use in the motor. I find I like the slightly slower response on the 4.2 litre.
Ironically -- I usually put a 1/2 litre of Mystery oil in the engine when I change the oil!! Something a friend of mine who has been a Jag mechanic since 1958 told me to do.
