TR4/4A Fluids reference - TR4A

Does anyone have an easy reference for all of the recommended fluids and greases, etc for a TR4A in today's world? For example is a stock TR4A (with hardened valve seats) able to run 87 octane or does it need Premium? Oils for Z-S carbs? and so on.

I finally have the car ready for the road (after a 4 year effort) and I want to be sure that I'm not screwing it up. Thanks.:eagerness:

Problem is, there is no common consensus on what all those fluids are. And what octane fuel you need depends on a lot of factors that may be different with your car, including how you set the timing.

Here's my list:
Engine - Valvoline VR1 racing, 20W50
carb dashpots - same as engine
gearbox (+OD if present) - Redline MT-90 gear oil (GL4)
rear axle, trunnions (the later ones that take oil), steering rack/box - Valvoline SynPower 75W90 gear oil (GL5)
coolant - 30% Prestone "any color" extended life or Zerex G03, 70% RO filtered or distilled water

I also run
upper cylinder lubricant - 3 ounces per tankful, TC-W3 outboard motor oil
lead substitute - Redline lead substitute 1 ounce per tankful

My TR3 engine seems to prefer Premium and having the spark advanced until it will just barely ping at full throttle and 1500 rpm (which is not something you should normally do). But YMMV.
