Stag Floor panels for a Stag

Anybody know if you can still get floor repair panels for a Stag? I've looked and can't find any. Today I started to try and fix the rotted floors in a friend's Stag, and if today was any indication of what's to come, I'm in for a ton of work. Removed the seats and carpet only to find very rotted floors. From under the car, they didn't look so bad because of the liberal coating of spray on undercoating. Once the carpet was removed, you could see that the PO had installed sound deadening right over fiberglass that was covering up the rust. Only after chipping away all of the nasty, did the true extent of the rot reveal itself. It was bad --- MGB bad! Probably looking at 20 to 25 hours worth of fabricating and welding if I can't find panels. Also noticed why the front suspension seemed shot. Where the front left lower control arm mounts to the frame rail, there is extensive rust. I'll have to fabricate all of that as well.

Rimmers was the first place I looked. They show them in the exploded view pictures, but when you look for a price, it says they are currently exploring the viability of producing repro panels. Last night I started in earnest cutting out the area behind the passenger seat. I made doglegs to support the floor panel and welded them in. Today I will make use of the bead roller and fab up the floor section. Probably won't look exactly stock, and definitely will take extra time than cutting in repro panels, but at least my buddy will have a solid floor to sit on. Still have to tackle the drivers rear, and both front footwell areas.

Todd - I'd try a Stag specialist in the UK. Someone will have panels... Have you tried contacting a Stag club in the UK?

I feel your pain! Pinch yourself you are restoring a Stag..
After reality check proceed ;)>
The guys in our Portland Triumph club poke fun at the Stag owners, we can't help ourselves :>) On the Stag I restored for a client I lucked out the floors were mint so I can't help you with that one. Not sure where to send you.

I ended up just making the panels myself out of a TR8 trunk lid and my bead roller. I have the passenger side done, and will start on the drivers side today. I used the entire deck lid on one side, so I need to drag another one out of the parts stash. I always save deck lids and roofs from the cars I part out, because the steel is nice and usually a thicker gauge than the rest of the body. I'll post some pics if anybody is interested. Just need to resize them to fit on this site.
