I've done 3 floorpans with Fusor. Love the stuff. I used sheet metal screws every 2 inches after applying the glue and finished with seam seal and paint.

Next question-
Now that I find that I don't need to weld my floorpans into the "B" I happily go down to the local autopaint supply store looking for Fusor and he also shows me "Duramax" from 3M (previously from Polymer Engineering Corp). He says that it is the equivalent to Fusor. Price is about the same. Anyone have any opinion of Duramax?

duramax is the same thing, different manufacturer. it will work just fine.

Funny enough a sales rep from Fusor came by our auto body class last Wednesday night and he had some pretty good demonstrations on the metal bonding. He said that adhesives cannot be used in a car's crush zones becasue they are too strong and don't have the safety effect welds have.

I have never used any adhesives on a car, but now I am familiar with Fuso products, I would start with them.

What does that mean?

The metal will "crush" at a given rate, the "glue" doesn't crumple and absorb impact... I think that's a "plus" frankly. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif

...and he's likely referring to "modern" car designs, too. These steel tubs with their heavy gauge panels aren't likely to "crush" well anyhoo!

GLUE 'EM UP fellas! Impact is what the 3" lap belts are for! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif

OK- now that I am a believer in glues- I find that the dispensing gun (a two-tube caulking gun) runs about $75.00!!
Who has figured out a good alternative or who has one that they are willing to lend/rent?
The glue sounds like it runs about $80.00 for enough to do the "B" floors and this will be a one time use I hope.

If you buy enough of the stuff, SEM for one throws in a gun. Dunno about the others.

That's the way I read it, Doc...just wanted to see if others got the same thing out of it as I did; namely: glue is stronger than welds & won't break in an accident.

I've been considering this and now I'm sold but have a question

I removed the rusty pan where it was spot welded which leaves the factory lip, which is about 1/2" is that enough to glue onto??

I'd loan you my gun but it's already on vacation
I know where your gun is & that it in fact has been hanging on a wall for some time....

That's the way I understood it as well and took it as a plus in our cases.
