TR4/4A Floats in TR4 ZS Carbs

I hope to take a look at the floats with the ZS carbs still in situ.

I can see I remove the 8 screws that hold the bowls but will I then be able to pull the bowl down & off or do I also need to remove the big brass plug (called the bush retaining screw, I would call it the jet carrier)? If the latter -- do the jet and other bits come out with it?

Perhaps whether I need to remove it will depend on how tight the o-ring is on the jet carrier?

I have never removed the bowls with the carbs on the car, but I think you can undo the screws and the bowl will come off, without having to remove any of the other pieces. If I recall correctly, when I rebuilt mine, the bowls were the last part I screwed back on.

This is dicey in the car, smart money is to remove them once, do them RIGHT, put them back.
Good luck with the O ring, it is poorly designed and hard to seal, sometimes the plug cracks.

Removing the bowls with the carbs on the car is doable, but I would remove the air valve first to avoid bending the needle and also be careful not to bend the float. I don't believe there is a plastic plug on the adjustable jet assembly used on the TR4 ZS carbs. Berry

You say you want to "take a look at the floats". You might also want to check the height and I don't see how that's going to be possible with any degree of accuracy unless the carbs are sitting upside down on the bench with the float chamber gasket removed.
