Need some help before I destroy sometning, how do you remove the pin holding the float in place, or how do you remove the float. I noticed that there are different plastic floats in each of my carbs. The front carb deffinetly needs the pin removed to get the float out. I bent the retaining hinge clip of the other to remove it. I want to soak the cap in cleaner but you can't put plastic in the solvent.

one side of the pin has a flat on it just hold on to it with a pair of pliers and it should pull straight out

sometimes not a flat.....

sometimes a knurled o.d. on the last 1/4" of the float pin ....some times not.

A small pin punch or solid rod about 1 to 3" long and a large opening pair of Channel-locks. Gently press out the pin.

Well it does not have a flat end or a knurled end, it seems to be round but it is not budging. I put it in a vise and tapped it with a hammer and try to pull it with grips and compress it with channel locks. Any other suggestions?

""""""Any other suggestions? """"""

The brass pin is held in two pillars that are part of the float lid casting.

The pin is pressed in one side of one pillar and goes over and thru to the other side and into that pillar.

If corosion is evident you might soak with a bit of P-Blaster or other solvent.

The lid is quite hard to hold with the float attached, as there is no where to grab it in soft jaws. Certainly you dont want to grab across the outer edges.

So then you use the Channel locks open wide and a very short pin punch or rod 1" long that pushes against the pin and squeeze the pin out the other side. not a two handed squeeze as you could break one of the pillars.
