Looks like the actual flier did not paste. I could not find it on the Auction company web site but a Google search should pull it up. Bob

Re: Flier for Tony's auction.

For those who can't be present, some items will be offered online. Don't know at this point which ones; I assume all the cars.

And I'm hoping to put together a gathering on Thursday afternoon/evening before the auction, and maybe Friday after. Let me know if you're interested.

Re: Flier for Tony's auction.

I notice the Ssnake is not listed along with its super engine.

Tony's paint and body guy is taking that. He and Tony had worked on its design together, and he wanted to finish it.

Re: Flier for Tony's auction.

Jack, I was told by Shannon, that they would keep the T series that is in the bubble, and and the MGB Tony bought new. The Snake was not in the garage when I went there to get the GT race car, I think I was told it was at the body shop, but the Rover V8 engine, complete with SUs was sitting there in the floor. I think the poster just list some of the items, not necessarly everything being offered. A few things have been bought pre-auction, but not much from what I understand, I bought the GT race car. Tony had alot of stuff, so I think anyone who attends this auction will not be disappointed, it was quite the collection of stuff, including alot of cool wall art, and lots of tools and shop equipment. Any of us who knew Tony, know he could start a project with the best of them, but finishing one was entirely different story (and I say that lovily), so alot of the cars being offered are a partial restorations, like a few MGBs that are already in fresh paint, The 64 Midget has a ton of new parts on it, fresh red paint is mere hours away from completion.

Re: Flier for Tony's auction.

Hap is spot on. I think it needs to be stated very clearly that all of the cars are projects. Bob (bob67bgt) got a couple of them running - the '67 GT and the 74.5GT - but even they are not roadworthy.

However, if you want to pick up a deal, Tony's is the place to be next month!

And the auction will be online as well.

Re: Flier for Tony's auction.

As I remember last I was up there, most if not all of the cars had the parts Tony knew they needed stored in the front seats.

Wife asked me today if I was not going, and to be truthful I just don't know if I could hold up. We will see. Only thing I think I would like he did not have, a ribcase tranny or I would have had it.

Re: Flier for Tony's auction.

I can't go either Jack. Mostly 'cause it'd be too late.

Re: Flier for Tony's auction.

It is fitting that this auction of a great enthusiast's collection coincides with the closing of the MG assembly plant in Abingdon on October 22,1980.

I would have been there, but will be in Reno for the NAMGBR annual general meeting.

RIP, Tony.

Re: Flier for Tony's auction.

Howdy Folks,

I rec`d. my November Issue of "Classic Motorsports" recently. On pg. 8 there is a nice write up about Tony & some details on the Auction.

"Hap", Will You & Fred be going?

Regards, Russ

Re: Flier for Tony's auction.

Russ, yep, I understood you were going to pay the gas for me to pull a trailer for you  I don't have any real intentions of buying anyhting, but I'll come preapred to do so, parts thats it, not so much a car.

I think for alot of us, this is a pinful reminder that we have lost Tony, I said this today over on the MGEx site, and I'l say it here.

If I died tommorow and Mary Jane was forced to get rid of all my car stuff, I would want people who loved these car like I did to to get it, I seen some horror stories of our beloved cars ending up in the wrong hands . We need to remember by showing up and possibly buying something we are helping Gerri and the family out. So keep in mind you will be honering Tony by showing up and he would want right folks have this stuff, and you all are the right folks. For alot of us who were not able to attend Tony's services, this will be a gathering and a remberence of Tony as much as a auction, so Jack and others, put your emotions aside long enough to realize, Tony would have wanted you to be there, and if you buy something, even if you get a smoking hot deal on it, you have helped the Gerri and the family out, and for sure Tony would have wanted that.

Jack, I sure hope you change your mind, It would sure be nice to meet you in person.

Re: Flier for Tony's auction.

Well put, Hap.

For those who can make it, an informal gathering at a local watering hole is being considered for Thursday evening. May also do one Friday after the auction. Let me know if you're interested.

Re: Flier for Tony's auction.

I hope there's room to park trailers. I'm not planning on buying a car either but I'll have my trailer down there.

There a big grass field behind the shop, you can easily park several dozen trucks and trailers there, and many many cars, not a problem.

Howdy Hap,

I`d be "Happy" to pay the gas costs but then I`ll have nothing left to buy my "Anticipated MGA Rdstr"!?!?!?!?
