Flasher Unit

The driver's side flashes slower then the passenger's side. Am I safe to assume the flasher unit is going, or is there something else to check?

The driver's side probably has more resistance than the passenger's side. Check for corroded connections. The flasher unit is driven by heating of the element from current flow - less flow, slower heating.
 
check your bulbs as well as the connections. In the eville old days (pre LEDs, etc.) the change in flasher speed usually meant that a bulb had passed away. Doug
 
More info to add to my puzzle. So, in checking all my grounds and connections over the weekend I noticed that when the driver's side blinks slow you can hear the flasher unit that the 3 wires connect to make a tik tok noise. When the passenger's side blinks fast, no noise is made.
 
I know its a stupid question, but have you changed a bulb on the passenger side, they should be 21 watt bulbs,
If you have fitted a 5 watt side lamp bulb by mistake it would give the symptoms you have.
Since the flasher unit serves both left and right flashers, and one side is working i would asume it is not the flasher unit.
I have also come accross where someone fitted a double fillement bulb 180 degrees out, gave then a nice bright side light
but a dim flasher.
