flasher relay

Took out the flasher relay of a 1972 Midget and started the car up let it run for ten minutes, then the next day she would not start. When I put the key in the ignition I couldn't even hear the fuel pump running. It seems that the battery is dead because all of the fuses are fine.

Maybe a short was made while fiddling around with the relay, I'm not sure but it seems really weird because I didn't leave any lights on to drain the battery.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Are you sure you didn't just leave something on inadvertently? Unless I'm missing something, it's hard to see any reason why just removing the flasher should create a load on the battery--removing it will completely disconnect the turn-signal lights; it wouldn't turn them on. And, if you had really shorted something, it would be very evident--blown fuses, fireworks, that kind of thing.

I suppose it's possible that something else, unrelated, failed at the same time, but that would be quite a coincidence.
