Flasher for BN1 - Where does it mount?

Any pointers on where the small flasher unit mounts on a BN1? I can't remember what it attched to and if it's inside or outside the firewall?

Go figure a 1,000 pictures except for that one....

Thanks,
Michael.

Re: Flaher for BN1 - Where does it mount?

The best I can do is a couple of pics by Rich Chrysler.

5A4 - under dash, at top of pic. Should be in a spring clamp holder.

5A5 - Front of firewall

5A6 - Left fender well

Great, I had these pic's and just noticed the small flasher on the inside of the firewall - Thanks for the pointer....

Michael.

Re: Flaher for BN1 - Where does it mount?

Wow, those pics look just like my car, except A LOT cleaner, I have never seen a 100 with the shroud off like that. Good stuff.

Re: Flaher for BN1 - Where does it mount?

Not everyone takes the car apart this far. Lot of stuff in there that you don't usually see. The BN1 has many different parts & parts locations than the BN2. I try to keep as many detail pics as possible, as where things go can be quite a puzzle.

Dave,
You should add that the pictures show Blair Harber's 100.
I believe this car is one of the oldest, if not THE oldest Austin-Healey! Notice the shroud support structure made of bits of square tube, and also the Girling shocks.

Re: Flaher for BN1 - Where does it mount?

Also nice to see that despite the best effort of DPOs most of my bits are where they are supposed to be, even if not as pretty as in the pics.

One of the first things I had to mess with when I got the car was the flasher unit, it is a bear to get to with the shroud on!

Re: Flaher for BN1 - Where does it mount?

Had that same thought as I was mounting it with shroud off and easy access.....

Re: Flaher for BN1 - Where does it mount?

Since I don't care that much about concours correctness & it can't be seen anyway, I just used a modern flasher unit. Napa #50-263-3, tucked in behind the carpet at the top of the extension panel. Out of sight, easy access, & works well with all bulb combinations. Much better than the load & voltage sensitive original Lucas flasher.
