I love Ferrari and Simca selling more than Honda...

What an interesting variety of cars you could have purchased that year.

I'm wondering in what country were these sales - certainly not the US?

Apart from a few that look high to me, they seem reasonable for the US. Just wondering what prompts the question...

(Also I'm assuming the Ford numbers are not for US models???)
The Ford numbers plus the absence of any other major US automakers' numbers.

The subject line says import cars.

Wonder what Ford cars were imported to where?

Were we importing Fords to the US in 1970?

German built Capri for another?

,

Yes,these were US import numbers.
The only Fords imported were Cortinas.
The Capri wasn't imported until 1971.

We imported 21,000 Cortina's? Where are they?

This SITE has a nice overview fo Ford's English imports.

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:]After falling below 5,000 in the early 1960s, annual English Ford sales in the US rallied to the 20,000 level through 1969. During 1970, however, imports were halted, their niche taken up by the new Pinto. Nearly 250,000 English Fords were sold in the 23 years they were imported. When was the last time you saw one?[/QUOTE]

I wish they'd kept importing the Cortina... and then the Escort, too.

Cortinas? I'm amazed. I don't remember seeing very many (if any) during that era. I saw a couple Lotus-Cortinas but that's all. But I remember seeing quite a few Simcas and Renaults seemed common. Maybe it was a regional thing? Did all the Cortinas go west or something? Maybe the list includes Canada?

Interesting.
