Doubt it's the axle housing due to the containment hoops if something breaks.
Strange damage as that flange is protected above the rear part of the leaf spring. Difficult to use as a jacking point or for safety blocks.

One doesn't make much of a sample, but I just trudged through the snow and looked at my scrap GT6+ body; the flange you show is very similar to mine in that it's folded over. Mine's a bit smoother, but it's essentially the same.
