Fixing my 4-runner - again.

Offline
Well, I finally have taken the intake back off of the truck. You all know I've been having problems with fuel leaking from the injector seals since I replaced the head gaskets back in march/april last year. Well... first thing that I found was a copper washer from the banjo fuel fitting - laying on the head - theres some of my problem - musta fell out while I was putting it back together and I didn't notice. Then I pull the fuel rails off - yep - 4 of the 6 injector o-rings had distorted and rolled out of their grooves. The cheap rebuild kit had ill-fitting o-rings, and I knew it. Oh, well. I now have new proper sized o-rings in now. Sitting here enjoying a smoke while I take a break before putting it all back together. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

My kingdom for a tube of superglue!

Stuck at the house because the only running car I have here isn't back together yet. All I need to finish the durned thing is some glue because I broke a vaccuum fitting again. And I have to glue it back together before I can put the intake back on. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif

"You used all the glue... on... purpose!"

hehehehehehehehe.

Haa Haaaaaaa!

Found a six pack of glue in my wifes sewing kit. hehehehehehehe. Now just gotta wait a few more minutes for it to set up, add somemore around it for strength, and I'm off to the races! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Thought you were quitting!

you talking to yourself again Kenny????
Hehehehehe... Hope it turns out good. I ain't workin on Toyotas today.

I just got it back together - another smoke break before I go start it up and see what else goes wrong. Eventually this danged truck is gonna run right - by golly gee. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif It just looks too good to let it die. Hopefully after this, I can go more than 170 miles on a tank of gas.

Oh, and the quitting lasted about one day. decided to just cut back until I eventually can drop the smokes... maybe.

Hey Kenny- 170 miles on a tank of gas sounds
pretty grim indeed.

The Crypt Car got 11 months before I had to
add two gallons to top it off.

Well... I took her out for a spin... and runs good - just a small miss at idle - probably needs new plugs after running rough for the past several months. Other than that - no more gas fumes when I park... and I'll check it in a few hours to make sure it still starts right up after it cools down. Used to take a minute or 2 for the fuel pressure to build back up. I also zeroed the trip odometer and filled her up so I can figure the new gas mileage. Hoping for at least 18mpg, but 16 wouldn't hurt my feelings too bad - anythings better then the 10mpg it's been getting the past few weeks..

I'm now drinking the celebratory Guinness. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

Congrats Kenny, another reliable vehicle! How'd things with the LTD go?

Haven't even looked at it since we brought it home. Not sure I want to.
