As of this week I am officially published in a local magazine (called Alberta Views) for some photojournalism work I did on my own... And they are the real thing and an established publication... I had approached them and they agreed to publish some of the photos, someone else wrote the text... And of course this means $$$, I'm rather stoked to be published for the first time, hopefully not the last time...

They also asked me to do an additional photo assignment, more $$$, can we say dSLR camera finally... almost there...

Am I famous yet? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif Have a ways to go yet before I arrive, and still learning... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Beautiful work, Congratulations! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Thanks...

It sure feels good, and I feel like such a greenhorn compared to the veterans who typically contribute (I've read some of the bio's)

I assume they wouldn't have published them if they didn't feel the photos weren't good enough...

Way to go my friend. I knew you would get there, your stuff is that good.

I'm not surprized,I figured you'd have done many
photos in publications by now.
How many copies did you buy?

- Doug

I've been told that "once published" an expert you become...glad I knew you before a celebrity you were....hehehehe...congrats my friend - its well deserved.

Congrats Sherlock, you deserve every bit of fame coming your way!

BTW: I had some guys from Calgary in Town today and I've sent them both on a mission to locate that E-type...Apparently it's not far from the Calgary office. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Now I'm just waiting for the hate mail for next issue (letters to the editor) Kidding... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The art director didn't say when he could guarantee any other photo assignments, but I'm at least in his radar.

And doesn't freelance = dirt poor anyway? no matter how famous you are... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Anyone seen my business card yet? Probably not...

You're on your way! Just remember us "little people" once you become the next big name in photography /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Good on you, mate! Nice work.

YAY!!!

Keep it up. Sometimes jobs will just "come out of the blue" too. Couple years back I got a call from "Better Homes & Gardens" to do some shots of a local baking-contest winner... The art director chose our ad from the local phone book!

Great business card James. Your picture isn't as I expected you to look though. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Don't think there are many bigger markets around these days then what is going on out in Cow Town. You should get lots of exposure with this.

Well done.

Paul

Thanks again

For those who may have been following the goings on in my photostream, I have done some portraiture work over the past couple of months...

Starting with Amanda who asked me (she's the daughter of one of my classic car buddies)

I'm hoping to follow up with Ashley and maybe do some portrait work with her, likely a little more gritty...

And this guy - local author - just e-mailed me (from when I saw him back in June at a street festival) and sounds like he wants some portrait work done, see I don't just photograph women... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

What was that you said Doc? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

yep, my first thought as well. Heck of a thing to be called James and look like that.

Outstanding!!! Congrats.

I remember getting into the paper for the first time...No matter how many times I see my work in print, I still feel the same sense of pride (and I think I'm up over 300 pieces now.)

You're very talented. This is just the beginning for you!!!
