No - it isn't spotted /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rolleyes.gif but this is the first E-Type I recall seeing.

I've been going through a bunch of my old work and found this negative from a state park I used to go to. I took it in the spring of 1989 I think. I had an 11x14 of this on my wall for quite awhile, really liked the car. The license plate read "GRENDL".

Nice! The white walls really set it off! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbsup.gif

Very nice shot. That Jag seems to pop right off the page.
I was dying today. We went to Watkins Glen to see a movie, and parked on the street. When we came back to the car later, parked behind us were a TR8 convertable, an MGB and an MGA. then in front of us was a gorgous BRG Jag XK140 DHC!
And my camera was at home!!!!!!

wow... very nice looking E-Type.

seems the driver got a bit close to the parking block though. Ah well, saves you from blotching the plates /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

I suspect they'd been like that for awhile from the looks of 'em.

Those big RR-Tie bumpers were used in state parks all over Virginia. We used to have a '72 Buick Riviera, the car was pretty low and could hit them pretty easily. One day we went to a park and forgot about that little problem and got completely jammed on one of the ties. A couple of maintenance guys ended up lifting the front of the car while we slowly reversed out. Argh.

That appears to be a later Series 3 (V12) version.

Looks like one to me too! Years ago, while teaching at an exclusive private school, a rather dim but egocentric student with deep-pocketed parents was GIVEN one of those for "just managing" to get a "passing" grade (a low C!!!) /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rolleyes.gif !!!

I'll never forget the first XKE I ever saw, an early 60's car with the covered headlights, bisquit leather interior and BRG!! It was pure sex on wheels!!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbsup.gif

I personally prefer the older ones, but that *is* a good looking car. The whitewalls set it off nicely.

One just like that rolled by me in the University parking lot a few days ago. I had just come out of class, and was tired and distracted, when I suddenly heard that distinctive rumble of a huge lazy engine. Kind of made up for staying late for an extra lecture on semiconductor physics!

aerog, thats a clean looking jag, saturday while shopping for kitchen stuff in mt. kisco n.y. i pulled into a parking spot right behind a "c" type id never seen one of these and stood around gapping at it when the owner came out and was very kind and generous explaining all about this race set up jag detuned for the street, last time one was sold he explained it went for 1.325 mill. oh he also owns a 427 cobra, nah couldnt get myself ta ask em what he did for a living, broly nuttin. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

It's a 12 for sure. One of my clients found one and we did an overhaul on the thing from the firewall, forward; engine included. Down to bits. Cell battery and a gear reduction starter, Delco alternator were a few of the mods to make it more "daily friendly." It was a four speed manual gearbox, too.

We did the whole rear subframe/suspension/brakes, too. The guy was a urologi$t. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crazy.gif

so you did it through the exhaust then? (sorry couldn't resist the pastiche of the old gynacologist/mechanic joke...)

We ~DID~ do the standard "wallet biopsy" before we took on the job, tho. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif
